Service Description

Target Student Audience: This course is designed for English as a Second Language (ESL) students who use English daily in their lives and have a solid foundation of language structures. The purpose of this course is to provide them with a challenging and stimulating environment that will encourage them to develop advanced language techniques and strategies. Students already have a knowledge of the necessary vocabulary to write their text. Level : Medium/Advanced Grades : 4-5-6 Age : 9-10-11 Topics Covered : Fall Season Colors Physical environment descriptions and the human body Clothes Favorite Activities or hobbies Course Goal: Students will create a fictious Halloween character. They will use fall and Halloween inspired vocabulary to write their text. Their essay will depict the physical environment of their character, the physical body of their character, the preferences of their character and finally the personality of their fictious character. Target : Language Goals Evidence of correct syntax: adjectives in the right order. Usage of present tense verbs and third person conjugation. Complex sentence development containing 5 words or more. Attention given to capitalization and punctuation Challenge : Students will be asked to create and write a funny aspect regarding their fictious character in their text Materials : Detailed lesson plan of the hour of instruction. The teacher will provide pdf worksheets that can be saved and printed. Final Product : Students will be proud to demonstrate their advanced writing skills in a one-page length essay depicting a fictious Halloween themed character using contextual vocabulary to complete their task.
